Your adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation in Fes before traveling south through the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” thanks to its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, and cool mountain climate.
Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques can often be seen roaming freely among the ancient cedar trees. After a short break, travel through traditional Berber villages toward Midelt for lunch.
In the afternoon, drive through the magnificent Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s largest oasis systems, where thousands of palm trees stretch across the valley floor beneath dramatic cliffs.
Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Settle into your hotel near the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoy dinner, and prepare for your Sahara adventure the following day.
